‎‏Following 80 days of aggression and genocide in Gaza

‎‏ The Palestinian prisoners society has issued a warning about the situation in the Israel's Damon Prison following feedback from lawyers who recently visited prisoners

‎‏-As of last week, Damon Prison held 80 female detainees, primarily from Gaza, but also from the West Bank, Jerusalem, and 1948-occupied territories. Among them are a pregnant woman in her fourth month and an 82-year-old detainee from Gaza. The number fluctuates due to ongoing arrests.

‎‏-Amongst the detainee is a four months pregnant women from the territories occupied in 1948 who is facing starvation as the only food provided to her is burnt and inedible. And there is also an elderly women detained from Gaza who is 82 years old.

‎‏ -After 80 days, increasing torture, humiliation, and punitive measures exacerbate the detainees' suffering. Hunger and extreme cold exacerbate the situation.

‎‏-Overcrowding plagues prison cells, with some cells containing 4 and up to 12 detainees crammed in. Most sleep on the floor denied blankets. Some have worn the same clothes for over a month since their arrest, and have not been allowed to receive additional clothing.

‎‏-Many detainees suffer from chronic illnesses and health complications but the prison administration is refusing to provide access to care or even allow them to visit a clinic. Several women have also started to show sign of psychological distress due to the harsh conditions of captivity and extreme hunger.
