🔴 The Prisoners' Club: Occupation authorities release administrative detainee Moazzaz Abyat in shocking and difficult health condition after severe beatings and trture in the occupation prisons

Ramallah - This evening, the occupation authorities released detainee Moazzaz Khalil Abyat (37 years old) from Bethlehem after he spent 9 months under administrative detention. He was released from (Al-Naqab) prison in a shocking and difficult health condition, highlighting the prison’s long-standing role in the torture and mistreatment of prisoners since the beginning of the genocide war.

The Prisoners' Club added that detainee Abyat was severely beaten during his arrest at the end of October 2023, specifically on his legs. Subsequently, he faced a series of severe beatings and torture. His appearance today is a sufficient testimony to what he endured during his detention, including starvation and medical neglect, which have been central causes for the death of prisoners and detainees since October 7.

The Prisoners' Club noted that Abyat's first words after his release were that he had "been subjected to attempted murder" more than once.

It is known that Abyat is a former prisoner who was previously detained twice before his current detention. He is married and a father of five children and had no health problems before his arrest. Thousands of prisoners face death in occupation prisons, a situation that worsens over time due to ongoing and unprecedented levels of torture.

The Prisoners' Club pointed out that in light of the aggression against prisoners, the occupation continues to escalate the crime of administrative detention. As of the beginning of this month, the number of administrative detainees reached no less than 3,380, including women and children. All of them are subjected to sham trials under the pretext of a "secret file." Hundreds of administrative detainees are sick, and the vast majority are former prisoners who have spent years in Israeli occupation prisons.

The Prisoners' Club held the occupation authorities fully responsible for the condition in which detainee Moazzaz was released, renewing its call for international human rights institutions to assume their necessary responsibilities in the face of ongoing genocide and crimes against prisoners and detainees as one of its aspects.
