🔴 The repetitive assault against the leaders and symbols of the Captive Movement is a real attempts of assassination

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Society Prisoner’s Club stated that the repressive forces subordinate to the Israeli prison service had committed a new crime against the leader detainee Marwan Barghouthi, member in the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, and his comrades isolated in the cells of Megiddo prison. The crime is represented in subjecting him to brutal attack on September 9, 2024, which led to several injuries in his body, specifically the upper part of his body.

Based on the information recounted by the commission’s advocate, the beating was focused on the head, ears, ribs and limbs, causing a bleeding in his right ear, injury in the right arm and severe pains in the tibs, chest and back. He had infections in his ear and difficulty in his movement, due to the deliberate medical neglect.

The commission and the society confirmed that the repetitive attacks and assaults against the symbols and leaders of the Captive Movement  since the beginning of the genocide represent a real attempt of assassination.

The commission and the society pointed out that the administration of prison is isolating tens of leaders in tragic and critical circumstances, subjecting them to brutal attacks inside their cells, besides the crimes of torture and starvation and the medical violations took place since the beginning of genocide.
 The Commission and tge society confirmed that the violations committed in prisons and military camps are considered a second type of genocide. 
Over the past year, (41) detainees were martyred in Israeli prisons, where tens of martyrs arrested from Gaza are still under the enforced disappearance. 
It is worth mentioning that Barghouthi is detained since 2002, and sentenced to life imprisonment in addition to 40 years. He was exposed to multiple transfers and isolations, where the he was transferred from from Ofer prison to the isolation of Ayalon- Ramla prison, and then to Ohelekdar isolation, then to Ramla prison and finally to Megiddo prison.

The commission and the society emphasized that Barghouthi was exposed to systematic incitement by the government of settlers, who brag about the torture by publishing videos of torturing detainees in degrading conditions.

The commission and the society called on the international human rights organizations to end the state of disability towards the crimes of the genocide and the crimes committed against detainees in Israeli prisons, and called to eliminate the exceptional immunity given to Israel by the ancient mandates, considering Israel above the law and accountability.
