⭕ Briefing: Testimonies of Palestinian Political Prisoners & Overall Conditions
Mid-September 2025

Palestinian Prisoner’s Society

September 17, 2025

ٍRamallah, occupied Palestine - The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society has published a new brief on the conditions of Palestinian political prisoners, based on lawyers’ visits to detainees during the first half of September 2025. Legal visits were conducted to the Naqab, Megiddo, Ramla, Ofer, Shatta, Gilboa, and Damon prisons and emcompassed men, women and child detainees.

Detainees across the majority of prisons are suffering from physical assault and attacks by "suppression units" using rubber-coated bullets, electric stun guns, batons, police dogs and other violent means. They also continue to suffer from systematic starvation with small portions of food being provided, and denial of any medical treatment.

One testimony said: "The amount of food provided is not enough for a small child. Many times, we find bird droppings in the food, or footprints from the guards' shoes on pieces of vegetables, which are often rotten. Despite that, we are forced to eat it because there's no alternative. Once, we found remnants of dish soap in the tahini. Those who claim to be doctors or nurses carry out acts of humiliation against the sick. When we ask for treatment, they respond mockingly: 'Be glad you're still breathing,' or they say: 'Drink water with soap.’”
