⭕️ Palestinian Prisoner’s Society: 89 Palestinian Women Imprisoned by Occupation

Ramallah, occupied Palestine- The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society stated that Israeli occupation authorities continue to target Palestinian women through ongoing and systematic arrest campaigns. The number of female prisoners has risen again to 89 following the arrest of four young women at dawn on Tuesday.

In a statement, the PPS explained that among the female prisoners are three minors, three pregnant women, 19 administrative detainees, and two women suffering from cancer. It noted that the majority are being held in Damon Prison, while others are detained in interrogation and detention centers.

The PPS reported that female prisoners are being held under harsh conditions, including food deprivation, medical neglect and abuse, solitary confinement, physical assaults, and degrading searches. It also highlighted severe overcrowding in prison cells, forcing some detainees to sleep on the floor.

Repression inside the prisons has intensified significantly, with repeated incidents of physical abuse and the implementation of systematic punitive measures. Occupation forces continued the use of arrests on charges of “incitement” or administrative detention based on what authorities describe as “secret files.” The PPS noted that more than 760 women have been arrested since the beginning of the Gaza genocide.

The PPS further emphasized the worsening health conditions of female prisoners, particularly those suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer, who are allegedly being denied adequate medical treatment amid policies of food deprivation and the spread of disease within prisons.

The PPS affirmed that these practices constitute part of an organized system of torture targeting male and female prisoners alike. It called for the immediate release of all female detainees, especially children, pregnant women, and those who are ill, and demanded an end to the ongoing violations against them.
