Ramallah, occupied Palestine- The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said Israeli occupation forces abducted and arrested at least 20 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Those arrested include five women: Jamila Abu Dihho, Jamila Kanaan from Ramallah, former prisoner Myassar Al-Faqih, Faten Hanaysha from Nablus, and Itaf Badr from Hebron. The arrests also included journalist Hassan Abdeljawad from Bethlehem.

The PPS stated that Israeli occupation authorities have continued to intensify arrests and field interrogations at an accelerating pace since the crime of genocide in Gaza, targeting various sectors of Palestinian society as part of a policy of collective punishment and retaliation.

The organization also said that women are facing increasing targeting through ongoing arrest campaigns, including arrests as hostages, nighttime home raids, harsh interrogation methods, and a rise in arrests based on what occupation authorities allege is "incitement" on social media. This is a dangerous escalation in which the detention of women is being used as a means of pressure and collective punishment. The number of female Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons has risen to 99.

The number of detained Palestinian journalists has increased to 42, including two who have been forcibly disappeared.

The PPS added that occupation authorities continue to carry out daily arrest campaigns throughout the West Bank as part of a systematic policy. The total number of arrests has exceeded 24,000 cases since the start of the Gaza genocide.

This escalation comes amid the continued expansion of arrest campaigns and field interrogations, targeting different segments of Palestinian society, including women, children, and former prisoners.
