Palestinian Prisoner’s Society
July 1, 2026
* There are currently 99 Palestinian female prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons including five women arrested by the IOF between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
* Data shows that the majority of women are detained on charges the Israeli occupation authorities claim as "incitement," or are being held under administrative detention without trial or charge.
* Among the women prisoners are four minors - under the age of 18 - two of whom reached adulthood while in prison.
* There are also three pregnant women, as well as two women diagnosed with cancer.
* Since the Gaza genocide, Israeli occupation forces have arrested over 770 Palestinian women across the West Bank and Jerusalem. Some were detained as hostages to pressure their family members to ‘turn themselves in’. Separately, women abducted from the Gaza Strip are estimated to be in the dozens.
* Female political prisoners include the wives of prisoners and martyrs, sisters of prisoners and martyrs, formerly imprisoned women, as well as activists, journalists, human rights defenders, teachers, nurses, academics, and university students.
* More than 40 female political prisoners are mothers.
Since the Gaza genocide, Palestinian political prisoners, including women, have been subjected to systematic torture and abuse as a genocidal policy carried out by the Israeli occupation inside prisons. This includes sexual abuse, particularly humiliating strip searches. The past three months have seen an unprecedented escalation in prison crackdowns, with dozens of raids carried out by specialized prison units accompanied by police dogs.
