🔴*PPS: Detention Used as Cover for Settler Attacks and Land Theft*

Ramallah, occupied Palestine— Between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, Israeli occupation forces detained or subjected to field interrogation approximately 95 Palestinians across the West Bank, with field interrogations accounting for the majority of cases, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said Thursday.
The campaign targeted Aqaba in Tubas, Madama in Nablus, Yatta in Hebron, and areas of Jenin, Bethlehem, and Al-Bireh. In Qalqilya, forces carried out a sweeping arrest campaign targeting released prisoners and their families, including the mother of a former prisoner and the wife of a current prisoner.
Forces also raided dozens of homes, including that of Minister Muayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, vandalizing and destroying property and physically assaulting residents.
The PPS said the arrests and abuses coincide with escalating settler-colonizer attacks on Palestinian towns and villages, particularly during the olive harvest, which has brought threats, attacks on land and property, field executions, continued land seizure, and colonial expansion.
*Detention and Field Interrogation as Tools of Control*
Detention and field interrogation serve not only repression and retaliation but also the broader effort to control Palestinian land and population, within an integrated system involving the military, occupation agencies, and settler-colonizers.
Mass arrests, field interrogations, torture, field executions, home demolitions, and attacks on Palestinians and their property are interconnected components of the systematic aggression against the Palestinian people, which cannot be separated from the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The PPS said these policies extend a decades-long colonial approach but have escalated sharply in scale, intensity, and violence since the start of the genocide, expanding mechanisms of control and targeting of Palestinian existence across the occupied Palestinian territories.
*More Than 26,000 Arrests Since the Start of the Genocide*
According to Palestinian prisoners’ institutions, more than 26,000 arrests have been documented in the West Bank since the start of the genocide, in addition to thousands in Gaza. The occupation announced Wednesday that it had carried out 46,000 arrests and interrogations of Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the genocide.
The continued absence of international accountability allows further violence against Palestinians and the continued use of detention, field interrogation, and other forms of repression as tools of control.
The PPS calls on the international community and human rights institutions to act on their responsibilities, end what it called systemic impunity, and hold the occupation accountable for ongoing crimes, including mass arrest, field interrogation, torture, killing, and colonial expansion.
