🚨Palestinian Prisoner's Society: Some 110 Arrests Recorded During Ongoing Israeli Occupation’s Assault and Siege on Hebron
October 28, 2026
Ramallah, occupied Palestine – The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) has recorded around 110 arrests of Palestinians, including seven children, during the ongoing Israeli occupation’s assault and siege on Hebron city and district, which persists for the sixth consecutive day, the organization said in a statement on Wednesday. Hundreds more have been subject to temporary detention and often violent field interrogations.
These arrests come amid an ongoing siege, demolitions, violent home raids, field interrogations and and severe restrictions on residents’ movement. The arrests are accompanied by severe physical and psychological assault and ill-treatment affecting every aspect of residents’ daily lives, from movement and work to education and medical care.
Dozens of former prisoners are among those abducted. This points to a recurring policy of repeatedly targeting the same individuals, with previous detention becoming grounds for re-arrest.
Three women have also been arrested, two of whom were subsequently released, while the third remains under interrogation at the Moskobiya interrogation centre in occupied Jerusalem. Occupation authorities continue to detain eight relatives of the two Palestinians who carried out the shooting operation on Friday. This reflects the continued expansion of targeting to include families and the use of arrest as a form of collective “punishment” that extends beyond individuals to their wider social and family circles. Arrest operations have also targeted people with disabilities.
The IOF’s actions also involved field interrogations of hundreds of residents during incursions and military operations across various parts of the governorate. These interrogations, conducted in streets, at checkpoints and inside homes, have become a means of gathering information, spreading fear and subjecting residents to constant surveillance and pressure. They have also been accompanied by various forms of assault. The brutality inflicted on residents has turned these field interrogations and the methods used during them into a form of de facto interrogation through coercion and abuse.
On October 26, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry’s report to the General Assembly concluded that Israeli occupation authorities and military forces are committing the crime against humanity of extermination against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank alongside persecution, torture and sexual violence. The report identifies military assaults and sustained settler violence as part of a widespread and systematic attack against the civilian population.
Several governorates have witnessed repeated military assaults, most notably in Jenin and Tulkarem. These operations have been accompanied by mass arrests, widespread field interrogations, forced displacement, the destruction of homes and infrastructure, and severe movement restrictions. These measures constitute some of the most prominent forms of targeting the Palestinian presence and are tools of the existing apartheid system, which has reached its peak since the genocide, particularly amid the escalation of settler attacks and an unprecedented expansion of settlement activity.
The recurrence of these patterns in Hebron reflects the widening scope of targeting. The effects of military assaults are not confined to those directly targeted but extend to society as a whole and undermine the foundations of daily life. This is a policy of collective pressure that seeks to reshape residents’ living conditions under the force of military power.
