Statement Issued by the Palestinian Prisoners' Club in Response to a Video Showing a Group of Occupation Soldiers Committing the Crime of Rape Against One of the Detainees in Sdeh Teiman Camp Ramallah The Palestinian Prisoners' Club renewed today, Wednesday, its call for the United Nations, through its specialized agencies, to conduct an impartial international investigation into the systematic torture operations against Palestinian prisoners and detainees. Part of these operations was revealed through a leaked video to the media, in addition to dozens of testimonies documented by specialized institutions, which are sufficient to condemn and hold the occupation accountable. The club stated that international investigative bodies must demand the recordings of cameras located in the prisons and camps, which now form a central part of their infrastructure. These recordings are sure to reveal more horrific crimes documented by evidence, in addition to the testimonies that institutions are seeking to follow up on, as a facet of ongoing genocide. In response to a video published by occupation media showing a group of occupation soldiers in Sdeh Teiman camp committing the crime of rape against one of Gaza's detainees, whose identity and health status are still unknown, the club said this crime is one of many rapes carried out by occupation soldiers against Gaza detainees, specifically in Sdeh Teiman camp, which has been the most prominent witness to the torture crimes against Palestinian detainees in the occupation's prisons and camps, based on the testimonies of released prisoners and recent limited visits by several institutions. The Palestinian Prisoners' Club explained that the rape crime documented by cameras confirms that there is more video evidence held by the occupation regarding all the crimes committed against detainees in the camp and in other prisons. The club pointed out that the video leak coinciding with the discussion of the closure of Sdeh Teiman camp is deliberate. The occupation is trying to focus on Sdeh Teiman camp as if it were the only place where similar systematic crimes are committed, which are no less severe than the atrocities carried out in this camp. It should be noted that the Negev prison serves as one of the most prominent prisons where sexual assaults of various levels were carried out, based on testimonies obtained by specialized institutions. Therefore, the effort to close this camp, if achieved, does not mean the end of torture crimes. All the testimonies we obtain from released prisoners and legal teams include all prisons and camps, including temporary investigation and detention centers. In its statement, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club noted that the crimes of torture and rape, alongside the crime of starvation and systematic medical crimes used by the occupation against prisoners and detainees in its prisons and camps, which have escalated since October 7, are all proven and systematic crimes historically used by the occupation against prisoners, including sexual assaults, which are currently the most prominent of these crimes. The only change today is the scale and intensity of these crimes and the expansion of their scope compared to any other period. The Palestinian Prisoners' Club confirms that the increasing talk about the occupation's alleged intention to open investigations and hold soldiers involved in the rape crime accountable, in Sdeh Teiman camp as one of several camps and prisons where Gaza detainees are held, is a transparent attempt to evade any international investigation that would reveal its crimes and lead to its accountability. The club added that these investigations are mere allegations with no meaning for a system practicing genocide in full view of the world, committing torture crimes and field executions in front of cameras. Moreover, the Israeli judicial system has historically entrenched all the crimes occurring today, including the ongoing crimes against prisoners and detainees. It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of the war of extermination, the occupation has continued to refuse the International Red Cross Organization's visits to detainees and has continued to enforce the crime of enforced disappearance against the majority of Gaza detainees, in addition to dozens of detainees who died in the occupation's prisons and camps without their identities being revealed. The last data announced by the prison administration regarding Gaza detainees labeled as "illegal combatants" is 1,584. This figure does not include all Gaza detainees. However, in light of some legal amendments made by the occupation regarding Gaza detainees, institutions were enabled through a specific mechanism to reveal the fate of some Gaza detainees, including martyrs who died due to torture, yet the majority remain under enforced disappearance, and institutions face significant challenges in following up on the issue of Gaza detainees, especially since visits are still limited. The number of prisoners in the occupation's prisons as of early August exceeds 9,900, not including all Gaza detainees, particularly those held in army camps.
