Ramallah, occupied Palestine — This year, the 50th commemoration of Palestinian Land Day, marked annually on March 30 since 1976, coincides with the occupation’s efforts to pass a law permitting the execution of Palestinian political prisoners—a law that reflects the genocidal nature of the settler-colonial project in occupied Palestine, where prisons have become one of its main arenas.
On this enduring commemoration, our people’s determination to continue their legitimate struggle, to attain their freedom, and to determine their own fate comes at what is considered the most dangerous and violent stage in the history of the Zionist occupation of Palestine, amid ongoing efforts to erase the Palestinian people wherever they exist.
We note that more than 9,500 Palestinian and Arab prisoners are held in Israeli occupation prisons and military camps, where they are subjected to a system of systematic torture. More than 100 Palestinian political prisoners have been killed in these prisons since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, as a result of torture—including sexual violence, denial of medical care, starvation, and other inhumane crimes.
Freedom for Palestine and its political prisoners.
