🔴 Palestinian Prisoner's Society: 630 Arrests of Palestinians by Occupation Forces in the West Bank and Jerusalem in July 2026

Ramallah, occupied Palestine- The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said it recorded 630 arrests of Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank and Jerusalem during July 2026. 

These were part of ongoing systematic mass arbitrary arrest campaigns that have intensified since the start the Gaza genocide, targeting all segments of Palestinian society, including children, women, and formerly imprisoned Palestinians.

Accordingly, the total number of arrests in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, since the genocide, has risen to more than 25,000, amid continuing daily arrests that constitute one of the main tools of Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society stated that the arrest campaigns were accompanied by escalating violations, including field interrogations, violent nighttime raids on homes, systematic destruction of property, and the physical assault, intimidation, and humiliation of detainees and their families. IOF also took family members as hostages, stole money and personal belongings, and continued extrajudicial field executions, which are a prominent aspect of the ongoing assault against Palestinians.

The village of Tel in the Nablus Governorate is one of the clearest examples of this escalation during July. Israeli occupation forces, alongside attacks by illegal Israeli settlers, carried out extensive raids, arrests, and field interrogations. These operations were accompanied by assaults on residents and widespread damage to homes and property, part of a policy of collective punishment and continued escalation against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The PPS also said that increasing settler attacks have contributed to a broader wave of arrests, particularly in villages and towns targeted by settlement expansion, where dozens of Palestinians were detained during repeated settler attacks carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

Regarding the situation of Palestinian prisoners, as of the beginning of August 2026, there were more than 9,400 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons, including approximately 370 children and 92 women. It added that 3,198 were being held in “administrative detention” (without charge or trial), in addition to 1,358 detainees from Gaza classified by Israeli authorities as "unlawful combatants,” also without trial or charge. 

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society further stated that the Israeli occupation’s prison system continues to escalate organized crimes against prisoners through policies of torture, starvation, denial of medical treatment, and solitary confinement. The continued spread of disease and epidemics due to harsh detention conditions and the denial of basic rights, place prisoners' lives at increasing daily risk.
